About Berowra Valley Regional Park

The Berowra Valley Regional Park is in the Hornsby Shire in Sydney, Australia. Notable features include the Thornleigh Zig Zag Railway, an historic quarry and a bridge spanning Tunks Creek at Galston Gorge. There are many walks to do, the longest of these is the Benowie Track (part of the Great North Walk), which runs the length of the park starting in Sydney and finishing in Newcastle. Other walks include the Calicoma walk in Cherrybrook, the Blue Gum Walk at Hornsby, plus many others. Access points to the park can be found at Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook, Dural, Westleigh, Thornleigh, Hornsby, Hornsby Heights, Galston, Mount Colah, Mount Kuring-gai and Berowra. Overnight camping is available at Crosslands and Tunks Ridge Rest Area plus other small campsites (no facilities) along the Benowie Track. The park follows the deep valley carved out by the Berowra Creek.

Day 1 – Friday

Day Brief - Today we travel from Sydney to Hornsby by mini bus. From Hornsby we begin our 8hr Trek to Crosslands Campsite. Throughout the day we will pass by Fishponds Waterholes which is a popular swimming & picnic area, crossing Baily Bridge before descending into beautiful Galston Gorge. In the afternoon we follow Berowra creek to Crosslands Campsite where you can cool off with a swim, explore the area, relax around the campsite and enjoy a delicious bbq dinner.

• 5.30am - Mini bus departs Pittwater Sports Centre, Narrabeen for Central Station, Sydney.

• 6.30am - Mini bus departs Central Station for Hornsby.

• 7.30am - Arrive at Hornsby Train Station, Hornsby.

• 8.00am - We commence our 8hr trek along the Great North Walk.

• 12.00pm - Lunch at Galston Gorge.

• 4.00pm - Arrive at Crosslands and set up the campsite.

• 5.00pm - Personal time, swimming, exploring, relaxing etc.

• 6.30pm - Dinner.

• 8.00pm - Supper & time to rest.

Day 2 – Saturday

Day Brief - Today we trek for approximately 5hrs from Crosslands to Berowra Waters Campsite. From Crosslands we begin our 5hr trek. Throughout the day we continue to follow Berowra Creek, passing by Rockyfall Rapids and Sam's Creek. A steep climb takes us to Berowra Waters Lookout followed by a long descent into Berowra Waters. After Lunch we have a short trek to our campsite where you will have most of the afternoon to recover, go for a swim, explore, relax around the campsite and enjoy fresh salads & cold meats for dinner.

• 6.00am - Breakfast.

• 7.00am - Pack up the campsite.

• 8.00am - Leave Crosslands for a 5hr trek to Berowra Waters Campsite.

• 10.00am - Morning Tea at Sams Creek.

• 1.00pm - Arrive at Berowra Waters, set up the campsite & lunch.

• 2.00pm - Personal time, recovering, exploring, relaxing etc.

• 6.00pm - Fresh salad & cold meat dinner.

• 8.00pm - Supper & time to rest.

Day 3 – Sunday

Day Brief - Today we trek for approximately 7hrs from Berowra Waters Campsite to Brooklyn and finish this section of the Great North Walk.
Throughout the day we climb 8kms out of Berowra Waters to Cowan. From Cowan it is an 11km descent passing by Jerusalem Bay, Cambells Crater & Brooklyn Dam to the Anglers Rest Hotel, Brooklyn. Here we have a couple of celebratory drinks before the mini bus takes us back to Sydney.

• 6.00am - Breakfast.

• 7.00am - Pack up the campsite.

• 8.00am - Leave Berowra Waters Campsite for a 7hr Trek to Brooklyn.

• 11.00am - Morning tea at Cowan.

• 12.00pm - Lunch at Jerusalem Bay.

• 2.00pm - Afternoon Tea at Brooklyn Dam.

• 3.00pm - Arrive at Anglers Rest Hotel, Brooklyn.

• 4.30pm - Mini bus departs for Central Station, Sydney.

• 5.30pm - Mini bus arrives at Central Station, Sydney.

• 6.30pm - Mini bus arrives at Pittwater Sports Centre, Narrabeen.

Note:The itinerary may vary due to weather and track conditions. Please be on time for the bus . If you are not there at departure time the bus will leave without you. If this happens you will be responsible for your own transport to and from the event/trip. Schedules and itinerary may change due to circumstances out of our control. If this occurs every effort will be made to get the trip back on schedule.

Meeting & Drop off Points:

• Pittwater Sports Centre - 1525 Pittwater Road, Narrabeen, New South Wales, 2106. Meet at the pick up and drop off area in front of the complex. Look out for the Cutting Edge Adventures mini bus.

• Central Station - Cnr of Eddy Avenue & Pitt Street, Haymarket, New South Wales, 2000. Meet at the Northern end of the island in Railway Square. Railway Square is the parking area between Central Train Station and Pitt Street. Look out for the Cutting Edge Adventures mini bus.
