About Six Foot Track

The Six Foot Track was originally a bridle trail from Katoomba, to the Jenolan Caves in New South Wales. It is now a walking trail of 44.3 kilometres. Starting at the Explorers tree, the track descends through Nellies Glen to the Megalong Valley floor. In the valley the track passes the historical site Megalong Village and continues on through farmland past the Megalong Cemetery.

The track follows the bank of the Coxs River, then the river is crossed using Bowtells (Suspension) Swing Bridge taking us to our campsite. In the morning we take on the demanding climb up the Saddle before descending into Alum Creek. In the afternoon we tackle another challenging uphill climb to the eastern end of the Black Range ridge. From here we follow a slightly-inclining path along the ridge line to our next campsite. On our final morning we follow the track that hugs the road before the our final descent to the limestone caves at Jenolan. Once at the caves we embark on a 1hr to 1.5hr caves tour.
